"Cubs, Scouts & Venturers... Fun for boys and girls"

Welcome to Scouting

S

couting is the world’s largest youth organisation with over 19,000 members, including 3,600 trained adult leaders in Victoria. Scouting is for girls and boys aged from 6 to young adults of 26 years. The aim of Scouts Australia is to encourage the physical, mental and social development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens. Scouting is a voluntary, multicultural, non-political, non-denominational, educational and developmental movement for young people.

Copious amounts of information can be found on the Scout website, which contains Cub, Scout & Venturer Section links: www.scoutsvictoria.com.au.

About Our Group

2th Caulfield (St. John’s) is over 80 years old and is one of the most vibrant groups in the District of Glen Eira. We have active Cub, Scout and Venturer sections. We aim to run a stimulating programme that balances fun and friendships with subtle ongoing learning through the badge system. We also regularly participate in District activities and camps.

~ We run programs for boys and girls ~

Cubs: 7.5 – 11 years on Tuesdays (6.30 – 8.00 pm)
Scouts: 10.5 – 14.5 years on Thursdays (7.00 – 9.00 pm)

About Our Leaders

O

ur leaders are a committed group of volunteers – parents, Venturers or Rovers (18-26 year olds) or friends of Scouting. They undergo basic training but are not trained teachers or psychologists! Please speak to them if there is something they should be aware of.

The names of the current Leaders can be found in their section’s page (eg: Cubs, Scouts, & Venturers).

Don’t forget that we will be thrilled to welcome you as a leader! The rewards of becoming a Leader in the Scout Association include:

  • helping young people to develop positive attitudes,
  • learning new skills,
  • helping the community,
  • sharing the fun and excitement of Scouting with other adults and young people,
  • personal satisfaction from doing something worthwhile,
  • for parents who are leaders – sharing and enjoying activities with your children when they are at their best. So satisfying!

If you are thinking about being a Leader or helping out in any way:

Contact our Group Leader

Email gl.12thcaulfield@scoutsvictoria.com.au

A Police check and Working with Children clearance are required for all our leaders.

Scouts Australia is a Registered Training Provider and can provide training for Certificates and the Diploma in Leadership. We cover all the costs of your uniform and training. Think about it…

About Our Committee

A

group committee meets meets 8 or 9 times per year to oversee the upkeep of our hall and our fundraising efforts. Annual subscriptions only pay for a part of the costs of insurance, running the hall, buying supplies for programmes and camps and covering the leaders’ costs. The balance is earned through hall hire income and fundraising. We run sausages sizzles three or four times per year. We construct an annual roster of families that usually requires only one attendance per family per year. We ask that you do attend or swap your allocated shift of 2-3 hours as we depend on your help for this income.

We also hold a presentation evening at the end of the year to share with Parents the Group & Sections activities for the year. This is also a good opportunity to chat with our Leaders so please feel welcome to come along, support the Group and hear what we have done for the year in all three sections.

Committee Meetings:
Last Tuesday of the month during school terms.
ALL WELCOME!
